The Manager of Adult Learning for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute National Resource Center (Osher NRC) is responsible for helping ensure that high-quality learning experiences are offered throughout the 121 Osher Institutes. The Manager will oversee the creation of educational and training materials, and develop accessible online/digital resources for Osher staff and volunteer leaders. Using various research and survey techniques, the Manager will also design and oversee the creation of professional development curriculum for Osher Institute staff. Often using distance learning methods to deliver these educational opportunities, the Manager serves as the Osher Network’s expert on online learning technologies.

Please Note : This position may require some independent travel to various regional and national conferences.

Specific Responsibilities:

Osher Institute Staff Professional Development
In conjunction with the NRC Executive Director, identify professional development needs for Osher Institute staff.
Collaborate with various Osher Institute staff and the SPS Distance Education team to develop online course materials and other academic/training services and initiatives based on effective practice and research.
Identify and utilize the most relevant online learning technology to promote delivery of course materials.
Provide consultation and lead Institute teams in online design, development, and management of educational learning technologies.
Continually assess for improvement and modify materials and training based on evaluation results and available resources.
Lead the development and planning of monthly Osher NRC webinars including recruitment and preparation of presenters and presentations and webinar moderation.
Edit video recordings of webinars.
Osher Institute Volunteer Leader Education
Create and utilize Osher Institute program surveys and convene specialized work committees to determine program needs and design effective educational learning materials to address those needs.
Collaborate with volunteer leaders and staff to develop educational and training materials and resources; curate online interactive platforms for easy access to materials.
Osher Institute National Conferences
Assist in the identification and planning of conference sessions, preparation of presenters, and materials to ensure high quality content designed to meet the intellectual and operational needs and interests of Osher Institute staff and volunteer participants.
Research, design, write, and produce Conference presentations.
Osher Institute Research Initiatives
In conjunction with NRC staff and research review committee members, develop, implement and administer the process and procedures for NRC research projects.
Design and manage survey instruments and the data collection process, analyze results, prepare graphics of research findings.
Write research grant proposals and co-author papers for presentation and publication.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Adult Education, Human Resource Development or Related Field.
Four years of experience in educational program planning, instructional design, educational technology and/or training and development.
Experience in delivering educational/training solutions, and evaluating effectiveness of training.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Expert oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated skills in creating resource materials within online platforms and through video production and design use of Adobe Creative Suite software and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Familiarity with communications technology and online tools for facilitating e-learning, training and discussions.
Excellent attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and strong professionalism.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse groups of constituents.
Experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Master’s Degree in Adult Education, Human Resource Development or Related Field.
Experience in academic data collection and analysis, writing grant proposals, and IRB coordination and compliance procedures.
Experience in the field of lifelong learning and adult education, with an affinity for working with older adults.
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Strong public speaking skills and the ability to present information to large groups in a conference or classroom lecture setting.
